Safety First
Wear appropriate safety gear, including a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing. Ensure the workspace is well-ventilated to avoid inhaling harmful fumes.
Set Up the Machine
Choose the appropriate welding type (MIG, TIG, or arc) and set the machine's voltage and amperage according to the material and thickness of the metal.
Prepare the Materials
Clean the metal surfaces to remove rust, paint, or debris that could affect the weld quality. Clamp the workpieces securely in place.
Position the Electrode/Nozzle
For arc welding, position the electrode at the right angle and maintain a steady distance from the workpiece. In MIG or TIG welding, ensure the nozzle is close to the metal surface.
Start Welding
Begin with short welding strokes to create a smooth, even weld bead. Move the electrode or torch steadily along the joint.
Monitor Heat
Avoid overheating by controlling the welding speed and maintaining consistent heat application to prevent warping or burn-through.
